i wrote this song in the summertime, about how my life was effectively ruined for a while by somebody who i spent five years of my life with, but then it switches to focusing on somebody else who changed my life for the better in the choruses. it's an optimistic song about looking forwards and learning to let go of my past.
i played all of the instruments that you hear during the song, apart from the drums. sam leighton performs the drumming on this track. he's simply phenomenal.
i currently record my music at home in my apartment in glasgow, scotland.
i used two microphones for everything, an se 4400A and an se 2200A. i use logic pro x, and plugins by waves.
i think my favourite guitar pedals are my jhs vcr and tc hall of fame.
i play a fender stratocaster. -----------

lyrics -----
well i used to be a different kind of boy. and i used to look up to the sun. then one day i was minding my own business when someone decided to take it all away.
so honey take them down, all those empty mirrors.
you’re the best, you’re the worst, you’re the one that gave me worth.
you’re the fun, number one, that everybody loves.
feels so good, having you, you take it out of me.
never leave, you complete, everything to me.
well everybody i know has made mistakes. at least i know what i won’t do. then one day i will look back and she won’t be standing there locked up in darker memories.
so honey take them down, all those empty mirrors.
and i will try my best, to be your marble pillar. -----
